The weather changes, leadership changes, culture changes, jobs change, families change, our jobs change… and we change. Change is the only constant in life. With that in mind, I have a question for you today:. Do you like the person you are becoming?
Changes in our life are either:
We are becoming more like the person we want to be.
- Are we becoming less like that person?
- The changes in your life are not always bad, but some are moving you further away from who you want to become.
People are remembered most for who they were, not what they accomplished
The people who know you best will always remember your character and values more than your personal accomplishments
- It’s never too late to change
- While you cannot change the past, you can redeem it and set an example for others
If we’re moving further and further away from the person we want to be, it is wise to notice that as soon as possible so the course correction can be easier, more efficient, and more effective.
In most cases, it’s not a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no.’ We may look at our trajectory and be proud of some changes, but regret others.
Some thoughts to help change course
You can always change
- Nobody can take away your right to change.
- Don’t change your goals, change your habits
- If the goals we pursue, when they are new, bring about these unexpected changes that move us away from who we want to be, we have two options: 1) remove the pursuit or 2) alter how you chase it
