What small things can you do to maximise your workday? Each day we let small blocks of time slip by without realising we can use them to multi-task and get ahead of the game. The great thing about these pockets of time is that they are set and predictable. That means you can create ongoing good habits
Morning Commute
Get a jump start on your day by sorting out your emails and filing them so when you get to the office you are clear on what needs to be done
- Review your calendar for the day so you know what meetings you need to prepare for
- Listen to an industry podcast or listen to motivational talks
Evening Commute
Meal planning is useful if you are trying to be healthy, save money, or both
- Do your food order online
- Connect with friends
- Work on your side-hustle
- Have a productive morning commute
- Don’t spend your time staring out the window
Make Time Work For You
Maximize everyday periods of time by taking what you might think of as dead time and using them productively.
Mid Morning Coffee Run
Asking colleagues if they want a coffee is a great way to connect with them and maximize your workday
- Begin the conversation casually and work your way up to getting the answer to the work question
- If you have been getting the brush off from a colleague over something, strike up a regular easy conversation with them to avoid that in the future
Lunchtime
Go to a gym – all cities have gyms in the center, industrial parks often have them.
- Read a book in a park – try to avoid the shops as they distract you. Listen to podcasts or meditate out in the fresh air. Use the time for catching up on admin tasks.
