Percolate: stovetop moka pot

Uses steam pressure from boiled water in the lower section to pass through coffee grounds in the mid chamber of the pot.

  • Brewed coffee then sits in the higher chamber. Produces the equivalent of a single or double shot. Easy to clean, portable and durable.

Pour Over/Drip: Coffee Cone

One of the oldest, simplest, fastest and cheapest ways to brew coffee is the drip method using a coffee cone and paper filter.

  • Hot water is poured evenly over coffee grounds in a paper filter, and the brewed coffee drips slowly into a cup or pot.

Pour Over/Drip: Chemex

Similar to a coffee cone, hot water is poured over coffee grounds in a paper filter. The brewed coffee drips into the bottom of the flask which doubles as its own carafe.

  • It uses a special Chemex paper filter that is 20-30% heavier than other filters.

AeroPress

Wet Hulled to Preserve Unique Characteristics

On Sumatra, Coffee plants (primarily Arabica) are grown on very fertile volcanic loam under the shade of trees.

  • The beans in their parchment are dried in the open sun to a 30-40% moisture level and then hulled to produce an opal-green appearance.
